1970. A Description Of The World's Largest Airway Beacon. November 28, 1939. WOR, New York. Sustaining. The thirteen million candlepower beacon is lit by "Cosmic Impulse Transmission" from the Hayden Planetarium through the WOR transmitter. Reports from the Planetarium and from a plane circling over the still unopened La Guardia Airport. The cosmic ray misses its cue!
